I have a suggestion which might suit your style - try charcoal, liquid or otherwise, with diluted ink or plain water; you could come in with more ink to strengthen it, or just let it flow.... and add a bit of watercolour or acrylic ad lib: you may already do this, of course, but if not - have a bash.
