This has a feel of some decades ago to me, a quietness and I like the style Ellie. Such a simple pleasure, sitting reading a book. Your limited palette works well, and I look forward to seeing more.

I really appreciate your comments about the mood of the piece and the colour palette. I am also pleased to hear that it conveys an feeling of calm and serenity. I liked how this piece worked, have since done another reading portrait but it is not as effective! (will keep trying. :)

Inspired by a photograph from the Museum App by Sktchy. This is very loosely based on the muse and is primarily a practice in accurate observation of the seated figure and also an exploration of colour. I have used a very limited palette in this piece; mainly naples yellow, cerulean blue, paynes grey and titanium white. I am really enjoying these colours and plan to do more studies of figures reading books! This is A3 on paper.
