Two studies of the same subject: I took a photo of this old cross last summer. I did the sketch on the left first. A pen and wash with lots of comfortable "control". For the second I started immediatly with the brush and watercolour. Painting without a preliminary sketch is really challenging to me but sometimes it can be quite rewarding.
