Please can you tell me why have you chosen this image? she was such a hated person.

A bold iconic choice of subject...

Not a subject I'd choose to portray - I was a member of a mountain rescue team who helped look for her victims, and would sorely love to find the resting place of Keith Bennett - but as an iconic image you have done well to emphsise the character as captured by the police camera.

I choose the image as art should present a challenge, this painting does both to me and those who view it. Yes its an iconic image of a hated person as iconic as HP beans or a soup can instantly recogniseable. I wanted to see how the image would develop using colour whether that iconic hated image would change or soften or some how stop being her. The comments I have had have changed my view of the painting and how it continues to develop. Thank you for the comments. Derek
