You seem to have aged a bit dramatically in the one at the bottom right, but it's the angle, of course. This is a very good collection of self-portraits; it's always good to see drawings on this site, because the best of them are just about as expressive as you can get. Excellent work.

Hi Robert, thanks for your comments, they are very much appreciated. Yes, I went to Art College but dropped out after 3 years! That was 1983! so I'm a bit rusty. I've just discovered this site so am not sure if I'm doing things right yet but am looking forward to communicating with other artists and maybe getting inspired to to a bit more art! To be honest the baseballhat pictures are a pretty poor likeness but it's all practise isn't it. I find I have to produce a fair amount of rubbish before something happens which makes me realise why I like to draw in the first place! Thanks again!

hi derek ,these sketches are excellent ,they have great depth ,great shading techniques and great composition...chris

I think these are great, I love the freedom that is gained from your shading, it gives character and makes the image look more rounded and professional. As for drawing yourself I think its great, I draw myself a lot too not because its narcissistic but because I have the copy right lol I will be certainly attempting your shading technique in future, well done.

Well I'm not afraid to admit to a wee bit of Narcissism! But apart from that, I am the only person around when I finish work at 3 or 4 am! Also being your own model you can relax a bit more and not worry if you've given yourself a big nose or a fat face or whatever... Would be good to see more people posting self portraits.

Believe it or not, all the pictures in this portfolio are actual self portraits, some maybe better than others but all seemingly just as spooky!
