Difficult to avoid the temptation to just copy what we see. I read an article, probably in L.P., some years ago, it is better to do a quick sketch from a photo, turn the phot over and paint from the sketch. Needless say, that discipline didn't' last long!! Must try it again.

Yes, your picture is much more interesting and has a better feel to it.

Again, the painting is better all round.
