Reflections and reference

Reflections and reference

I like seeing the reference alongside the finished painting Dennis. Excellent reflections and the changing of the red coat to a yellow one is a master stroke.

I agree with Barry, beautiful work and good reflections, Dennis.

Thanks Barry yes it's so useful to see the reference, if someone put a book together with 30 painting's and the reference and then explained the thought behind it I think it would sell very well

Thanks Cesare glad you liked it, hope it was helpful

I like to see how you adapted the picture Dennis, thanks.

Thanks Carole I thought it might be usefol

Perhaps you should give it a go Dennis I don't think anyone has really done a decent one since good old Ron Ranson and his painting from photographs book.

A lovely atmospheric watercolour Dennis.

Well Barry I think I'm too late at nearly 70 , but if anyone young wants to I'd be happy to do some of the demo's and share the business. Thanks again BARRY

Thanks Linda very much

Lovely to see the reference together with the finished painting Dennis,

Thanks for sharing the process, Dennis. I, for one, find it very useful. What you did was certainly very effective.

How good is this???? Very good indeed Dennis.

Thanks David very much appreciated, I would like to see others do the same .

Thanks Margaret very much appreciated

Thanks Seok I'm so glad you like it and it helps much appreciated

Thank you very much Ibolya and glad you felt it was worthwhile , I was Interested in you post where you showed your easal set up and the scene in front of you , Thank you for that.

Thank you for demonstrating that one does not have to slavishly copy a reference. Excellent outcome.

It is good to see the reference as well as the final result, so we can see what your interpretation is.

show you how i did it . Initially the background was different colours and too complicated so I simplified it and that makes the figures stand out more then changed the colour on the coat to yellow which gives a point of aim . I kept it as simple as possible which in my view is the best way I hope this is useful to someone.
