A comforting evocative painting Dennis

Lovely complementary colours, Dennis, this has a superb wam glow

It's worth that last hour,Dennis. The dark forms against the sunlit field works beautifully.

Thankyou Lynne Pat Seok yes it turned out nice in the end , i like warm sunlight across the track leading up to the gate and i love the thought of an old boy and his pal enjoying a gentle stroll while his wife prepares there tea .

Great stuff ! I'm most intrigued by your style and command of colour and have a number of questions if I may.... would like to get somewhere near to it (viz my "Last Light" so see how far I've got to go.) What is "other media" ? I assume small panels -- or you've got a very big signature -- but what ground do you use: some chalk in gesso ? How do you get the dry brush marks ? Brush strokes or leaching the paint or what ? I know the answer in part is years of practice, but I'd be grateful if you could give an old man a leg up !

Hi Ed and thankyou for commenting . You had a good guess mate but this painting was done on my computer using the basic paint program . it was done without any reference photo but came from my mind as did Last Light . I also paint in acrylics and you can find some of my acrylic paintings on my gallery . As you said Ed mostly my paintings are done because I have many years experience . I have painted in oils acrylics watercolours and pastel . But to be honest Ed the medium used is largely irrelevant I will produce a painting in a loose style no matter which medium I paint in . Im sorry if I disappoint you Ed , thank you very much for your comments .

Thanks Dennis. I remain hugely impressed by your results on the computer, but alas there's no chance of me catching you up on that bit of other media. I'll remain a grouchy octogenarian, hooked on oils and charcoal/chalk who doesn't like acrylics and hates water colour. Never the less your loose style and chiascura (sic?) is definitely going to find its way into my pics from now on. Good on yer - thanks.

Hi Ed thankyou mate for getting back , if my pictures have a positive effect on your work I will be very happy . I will have a look at your work and comment honestly Ed and hopefully keep in touch . Im 67 Ed and before I could paint quality originals it took me 20 years so keep working away mate and it comes good luck .
