I particularly like the way you have put the shine onto the leaves and pot -well done. Gillian Key

It's lovely Deborah. Can I ask how you got your green? Thanks

Love the sheen on the leaves- a good painting

Beautiful colours. A very nice picture.

Hi Larry. To achieve the green I used Hookers Green Dark + Windsor Blue (Red Shade) with a touch of Lemon Yellow in places. I used a thin base of Sap Green for the really light greens around the stalk area. I know some people frown at using Hookers Green and probably with some experimenting with basic colours I could have achieved the same result, but for this project I wanted to get on and practice the techniques I'd learnt rather than spend a great deal of time mixing colours - that's for another practice session. Thanks everyone for your comments.

I've just recently completed a beginners botanical watercolour painting course and it was a really good short course and some lovely pictures were achieved. With this in mind, I revisited painting my non-flowering orchid in my office. The colour is a lot closer and I took my time over the painting, taking me about 4hours over a 2 week period. You will see the difference from that done pre-course which you can also see in my watercolour gallery. You will also notice that I added a shadow to give it an anchor rather than floating in mid-air, as was previously suggested in my previous attempt at this plant. Any comments?
