This is very eye catching Dawn. The sky is lovely, I like the way you have picked out the edges of the hills and there is such warmth in the foreground - I can see why you like being there.

Every one needs such a place and one as delightful as this Dawn. Smashing knife work. I think you could have sponged the far end of the rolling wave onto the sand and the lower edge of the farthest rock face to filter it down a touch. Smashing colours and tones.

A place to be very happy in Dawn.....I like the composition.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I loved painting this and it kind of painted itself. It's a shame I have promised it to a friend because I would really to keep it!

I used palette knife and sponge to create this painting of the place I got to in my meditations. It is loosely based on an evening in Robin Hood's Bay.

About the Artist
Dawn Halliwell

I started painting in Jan 2016 after the death of my youngest sister. I found it great therapy and still do! I love experimenting with different techniques and media. I mainly work in pastel or oils for pet portraits, but I also enjoy doing ink portraits with the odd landscape thrown in for good…
