A wonderfully executed scene and great sentiment.

Beautiful painting, David.

Super textures and composition, David.

Surrounded, even hemmed in, but not subdued. And you've dealt well with the horrendous perspective issues which not infrequently drive some of us nuts.... but then as a retired architect, I suppose if you can't get it right, who can? The painting works very well, anyway.

Reply to Robert Jones.. thanks for your comments Robert this painting which is an imaginary scene ,but a common one in the depths of the black country. I deliberately painted a pastiche of industrial images, layering them in a flat perspective free approach to give a tableau effect ,shapes laid upon shapes intentionally flat. I have never found complicated natural perspective a problem, a wonderful challenge in fact To prove my point Robert find a painting on my site, Pashupatinath, Nepal ...this was a exercise in perspective that included so many vanishing points, that i feel a computer would have given up on, also Bull Ring Birmingham on my site this painting had perspective from various eye levels. Perspective my friend should not be an ogre but a delight if studied it is a natural visual explanation of space and depth ..after all we all see it artist or non artist and as you say as a retired Architect as well !!

A lovely complex work showing with an ironic twist. Well done, David.
