Lovely painting, David. Have you been to the Grace Darling museum in Bamburgh?

The drama is portrayed very effectively David. A very inspirational painting and narrative.

Great story and good one David

The sea is excellent, well painted David 👍

It's a great take on this story, love the way you've handled the sea, it shows the astonishing things these life savers had to endure.

Thank you David, Carole, Heather, Stephen and Lewis for your kind comments. Grace Darling was very young when she became famous helping her father, a lighthouse keeper, rowing to save lives. She apparently did not enjoy been thrown into the limelight and she died only a few years afterwards from TB. I have not been to the Grace Darling museum David. I thought I would have a go at a painting on the subject after a friend of mine got an old, inherited painting restored which I think was probably inspired by the Grace Darling story. My picture is not a copy of that one but mainly from my imagination.

Thank you Spencer for your kind comments. I think it is sometimes good to have a go at different subjects and this one caught my imagination. Far from perfect but I quite like the way the sea turned out.

Oil on canvas board. This is my take on the Grace Darling story. Her story of heroism at sea inspired many Victorian artists and raised the profile of the RNLI.
