Margate in Lockdown 2020

Great composition and colours. I like everything about this painting.

Really good Darren, there's a great solidity about the statue and those flags lift both the eye and painting

One of those paintings that catch your eye, then you can enjoy and marvel at the talent on show here. Well done Darren, like everything about this picture.

Great use of hue and tone in the statue Great picture in fact. The NHS flags make a poignant point.

Thank you for all the kind comments. The sculpture is of a Margate boatman who was one of 13 men of the friends of all nations lifeboat that perished in a storm in 1897 attempting to rescue others. 9 lifeboatmen lost their life. The statue represents the current NHS looking out for the vulnerable in these pandemic modern times. The flags symbolise the joyous freedom of hope for our future. An image, I hope, unlikely to be repeated.
