An amazing gallery of incredibly detailed colourful images that grow on me...Questions Motivation/inspiration for this series? How long would one like this take to paint?

Hi Phil - and thanks very much for yr comments - well I guess the whole motivation thing can be summed up in the phrase - sympathetic magic - for myself and someone else - but as with all painting - you think your doing one thing - but yr probably doing something else - that's what I wanted to 'see' - that process in motion. I don't remember doing any one of them individually - and the lot probably took about a fornight of constant work including a couple of large pencil drawings - It was something about building up a 'potent' ammount of work within the context of the journey - and only 'seeing' parts of it - ie Gilead - and meaning within the song - ' There is a Balm in Gilead.' But i'm not doing any religeous stuff here - whatever you concieve that to be - but I guess there are interminglings of unconcious thaumaturgy. Cheers Dai.H.
