Blackweir Arbour 7

love this! It is startling and vibrant, with depth too. it reminds me of some of the Eric Carle story books and their illustrations (the tiny seed?).

Thanks Sara - It was bought by the same person who bought Blorenge Burst. The area of Cardiff is Blackweir, their is a weir on the Taff there but the area I work from is within a woodland area just off the weir. It was worked very quickly, and as usual this 'feel' is the one I always want to get back to. The paints were those White Nights watercolours made in St Petersburg - don't know if you've used them, they arn't expensive either and sold widely over here - and the colourists there have a great history in Russian design. They are an odd and sticky paint, sometimes feeling more like a gouache than a watercolour. Cheers, All the best - Dai.H.
