Lately, I’ve found myself overworking a lot of my paintings—constantly repainting in search of some elusive idea of a perfect finish. But with this piece, I decided to stop and just let it be. I really like the warmth and calm it carries. There’s a simple honesty in it that feels right to me—it captures the moment as I saw it.
