Pretty good attempt Chris, again with the tree you need to get some of the foliage in front of the tree trunk and branches. Either leave some gaps in the trunk and add the foliage to the gaps, or quickly add the foliage while the trunk is still wet, lots of self help books by people like Alwyn Crawshaws and James Fletcher Watson explain the process much better than I can. I used to do loads of practice trees to get the idea.
