Nice sky and background in the one Christopher, I wonder if the fence helps the composition?

A teacher I went to always said," don't put in a barrier near the front of the painting as it stops the viewers eye entering the painting" Whether he was right I don't know. If you scroll down your painting, so you can see just from the house up to the top of the sky, I think it looks better. I find it's all too easy to do a nice loose background and then overwork the foreground.
