HMS Defence at the Battle of Jutland May 31st 1916

This picture show the armoured cruiser Defence flying the flag of Rear Admiral Arbuthnot in company with the Warrior and the Duke of Edinburgh having turned southwards to attack the German cruiser Wiesbaden. The Defence was hit forward by a salvo from the Derrflinger and blew up with all hands. My Grandmother's cousin was the Captain
