Brilliant picture, I love the expression on the first dog, especially around the eye. That hint of red/pink does the trick.

beautiful little shih-tzu i have to say my first love is velour and find it very receptive to pastel both hard and soft ....i too have been trying new papers i have just started trying pastel matt,a lovely paper but it does take alot of pastel ......

Size A4 on Pastelmat paper. This is the second painting of my workmates pets. Painted from photographs, I am using them to gain experience in the use of pastels. I am experimenting with papers and have come to the decision that this is the best have used so far, especially for this particular subject. The velour paper I had previously used was not very receptive to my pastel pencils. This pastelmat is great for all types of this medium.
