Never tried impasto, or a palette knife. This is impressive. The coarse-ness of the board is surprising. (I remember seeing Gauguin's work and being surprised by the same thing, very rough sacking-like surfaces.)

So colourful, really like this.

This has come out so well on the sacking. The rustic look really works.

My first foray with impasto. Acrylic on 8" x 8" hessian board using one small palette knife. He's a little foreshortened but it's a first attempt.
