You have done great job with charcoal & cartridge paper. This would be marvellous done withe pastel pencils & soft pastels.

Thank you Carole for those kind words. There is some use of soft pastels and pencils but unfortunately I am not proficient enough in any medium to make it look any better. I would love someone to guide me.

Using pastel pencils with pastel paper you would really surprise yourself how much more control and how much easier it would be painting this picture. I'm not saying that your painting needs to be improved by any means. It's just that using other materials would give your work the extra 'wow' factor with less effort.

Carole, I appreciate any help that I can get! You have inspired me to draw another dog. This time I have used pastel paper with soft pastels and pastel pencil. Although I can't get the hang of when to blend and how to draw the fur correctly,,,,,and Im not sure how to work the tooth on the pastel paper, I am reasonably happy with the result - the other dog is called Ben and is a springer. Thank you very much for your advice.

Maisie looks gorgeous Carolyn, well done!

Having done Molly in charcoal and Acrylics, I decided it was time to try something, and someone, else. So here is Maisie, she is a beautiful old dog with a really foxy look, black, white and brown markings. I have painted her in charcoal and soft pastel. The paper is just plain old cartridge paper from my sketch pad A4 size
