I think your second version looks the best Carolyn, I don't do dog portraits but I think the coat looks about right, I take it it's a short haired dog, 😀

Yes Linda short haired and quite smooth. I prefer this version too because it is easier to see the shadows rather than having to draw them in like on the first version. Thank you.

Yes the white shows up better Carolyn but both are very good.

Oh yes this is the better version Carolyn, we can see his coat better. He looks Wonderful!

I would imagine that most people have some difficulty putting a white image on a white support Carolyn. I much prefer this version myself ....it’s a smashing portrait.

I wasn't sure that the paper colour did justice to the dog so drew him again on W&N tints grey pastel paper using coloured pencil. Not sure which I prefer. Ideas anyone? and can someone tell me why I find all white dogs hard to draw?
