Lovely free style Carole - plenty of strong colours fuse together well which is often hard to get the balance right.Do you work from sketches or photos? I often take photos for reference and work into them, I know it is not always the 'done thing' but especially with work like yours, you can spend a little longer in the studio working up colour combinations from photos. Great work in folio.

I like very much this impressionistic-type painting.

What fantastic energy and movement in the sky and the Downs. Lovely painting, congratulations.

I would love to be able to paint like this. I love it !!

Agree with above. Lovely painting. jx

Thank you all. All of my work is inspired by places I visit and most of time sketch there, however, in the past when I have been on the Downs it has been horse-riding, a bit difficult to sketch but I managed to take photos. For me painting is about what you feel about the subject and by sitting on location painting, whether it be in a sketch book or producing a finished piece, you never forget a single thing about it. So back in the studio my work is an emotional response to the subject, I use my work done on location and photos simply as a starting point. Then like Clive says, I take a long time planning my painting, trying different colour-ways, deciding on the technique and whether or not to include texture. People often ask me how long does a painting take to do... the actual painting may not take me very long at all but sourcing material and the preparation and planning can take days... and I think is the fun bit!
