Castle ruin Meistersel
Watercolour on Hahnemühle Agave, 20 x 29 cm Meistersel Castle is the ruin of a rock castle near Ramberg in the Palatinate. It is located on a 492 m high hilltop overlooking the Modenbach valley, near the "Drei Buchen" pass. It is one of the oldest castle complexes in the Palatinate, whose name goes back to the words "Meister" and "Saal" or to the term "Master of the Hall". It can therefore be assumed that the ministerials of the imperial castle of Trifels were resident at Meistersel.
