thanks all - yes val gouache, i.m useless with watercolour. I make too many mistakes and get in a real mess.

Like this a great deal, the only question in my mind is the rather solid blue shadow to the right of the tree - could it be broken up a bit.... ? As everything else about it is perfection on stilts, it sort of stands out.
