Really good first oil painting, she has beautiful eyes. Thanks Brenda for your kind comment on my painting.

This is coming on really well. I don't know anything about oils, but I like all the colours you are getting in the coat and the pose as well.

It's coming along nicely, Brenda, and for a first attempt in oils, it is a precursor of great paintings to come! I think you've done so very well, the tonal work is very good, especially for a first layer. The only little suggestion I would make, if you don't mind, might be for you to move the muzzle slightly so it points a bit to the right instead of being positioned straight ahead, so that the muzzle follows the gaze of the eye But other than that, I really wish my first piece in oils came close to this!

Seok you are so clever, you have picked up exactly what is wrong with the eyes/nose! The photo I am working from is not good and I cannot find any true colour in the eyes (or direction where they are looking exactly). In the photo Sophie is slightly angled to the right and again, with the highlight/grey on the snout, the nostrils are indistinct. Thank you so much and please keep the suggestions coming. Thank you Carole and Thea for your kind remarks too. I don't know whether I am enjoying this exercise or not, being basically 'lazy' and acrylics and watercolour are much easier to use! Brenda.

Super stuff Brenda, what a talented dog portrait artist you are!

My first attempt in oils, still unfinished. It's also not a very good photograph, haven't mastered the camera yet either!
