You did very well, Bill, I like it. I think the fading out was a good idea because it draws the attention to the main subject: the door.

Your door is fabulous Bill, with the faded paint and loose wooden slat.

like the colours of the brick work here Bill. As well as the fading out, the dark shadow at the top of the door draws the viewers eye to the door which is the focal point. It's very nice. You're rather clever at painting walls, I remember " St. John's in the Vale" well !

Many thanks, Mia, Carole and Louise for taking the trouble to give me your views on my attempts at joining the painters' bandwagon. As I have said, previously, I respect your thoughts and am always looking to see whether I can give effect to your advice. Even though I am generally reasonably satisfied with most of my efforts I find other peoples comments can kindle my own further ideas and, therefore give me confidence to enhance my work. We'll see. Bill.

This is lovely, Bill. Love the colours. Like you I love painting weathered doors and drifting into purples and reds - a great subject.

Its good to have your comments, Jeanette. Thanks for that, Much appreciated....Bill.

Painted from my photo of an old farm door in Troutbeck, Lakeland. Following my photo instincts, I tried to focus the detail on the immediate area of the door and lose the outer detail. I find it is much easier to say than to do, with paints.
