Smallest of birds. Lifespan 3-5 years. From 5.5 cm in length. Heart beats up to 1,200 times per minutes. One of the smallest has a wing beat rate of about 80 per second. The only birds that can fly backward. They have no sense of smell but can hear much better than humans. The smallest hummingbird weights about 2g. Diet: nectar, spiders, flies, aphids, gnats and mosquitoes.
