I like the chunkiness of this painting!

A good strong painting Claire. How do you find gouache? I still find it quite tricky - depends on the size. My snowman was small so that wasn’t a problem.

Thanks for your comments. Overall I am finding gouache harder than watercolour - it's quite stiff and difficult to get the paint to move. I wonder if could be due to the make - i got tubes of holbein artist's gouache.

It's a different way of painting compared to watercolour, certainly thicker and of course opaque. I have Caran d' Ache but Holbein sounds a very good make. I find it easier to use if I'm painting quite small, larger areas, eg skies, I find difficult because it dries quickly
