Friend or foe...Australian magpies

Friend or foe...Australian magpies

Really like these images with a slight "dash" of colour

Magpies - there are variations between "English" ones and "Australian" ones (eg, the English ones like a nice cup of tea; the Australians prefer a tinnie...), are highly intelligent birds, very interesting to watch, avian thugs, and extremely successful breeders wherever you find them. Some people seem to hate them, but not I - yes they have some unappealing habits, but then so have some of my best friends... You've caught their character in these studies - interested, curious, confident, and striking to look at.

Lovely work, Barbara.

Wonderful work Barbara, so good!

This is brilliant, Barbara. A beautiful use of the watercolour medium.

Brilliant birds, Barbara. They don't stay still either.

Thanks for your encouraging comments.. our magpies can become very tame and almost one of the family...they sing beautifully and are very territorial and defend it from any invaders...this is what my painting is about...I really enjoyed painting this .It is on Fabriano paper using Daniel Smith watercolours. Thanks again Barb Morris.
