It has worked out very well Barbara, the faces are beautifully drawn ans I love the strong contrast of black and white.

this picture was a bit of an experiment...I began with a black acrylic background on watercolour paper and applied heavy patches of gouache...my aim was to scrub back to the black background to "pull out the faces"...this worked to an extent but I found that I did have to add more black.
