I wouldn't tone down the colours at all if I were you; I like the palette here, it reminds me of Corot, my favourite painter.

Thank you all for your comments. This silver birch tree must have been damaged when young hence its strange shape. I have taken photos of it at various times to paint but this particular morning with the sun rising and morning mist was the one. I am pleased you liked it.

The sky is lovely, almost luminous, and I love the very gentle gradations. Poor old birch tree, but it's doing well in spite of its early life, and makes for a great focal point!
