Clachtoll - Split Rock in winter

You're so good at these wintery scenes.

A superb example on how to retain the white of the paper, and use of negative shapes. The light in the picture makes we want to squint so as not to hurt my old eyes! Great composition/balance and I particularly like the treatment of the foreground, and it's slight subserviance to the focal point. I really like this picture. Best regards Chris

Brilliant Ann!

You've been digging them out from the files, have you? Always an interesting thing to do - and sometimes embarrassing, but not here: there's a good sense of chill about this picture, in particular. And - now that you're so much better than you were when you painted them .... you can always have another go! Today's challenge...... Do you ever do that? I've been repainting some of mine over the last few days - not sure if I shouldn't just start again on something new, but - it's been interesting!

Thanks again everybody. I'm not so sure that I COULD do better now, Robert! Thanks too, Chris - it is much easier to leave white spaces in snowy pics than in any others.

Great light and atmosphere, and a very strong composition. It's lovely.

Beautiful painting Ann
