Another gem - you are so good at these portraits. You seem to be able to get a 3D effect - how do you do that!

Hi Thea I do huge amounts of detail with pastel pencils blended with soft pastels, takes ages it but seems to work!! xx

just noticed your reply to Thea's question back in 2011 Andrea, I am guessing you lay down quite a lot of soft pastel first and then go in with really well sharpened pastel pencils for all the really fine details you were mentioning
