Thanks Dermot Satu and Marjorie for the comments,as always ,really appreciated. Marjorie, liquid clear is a mix of stand oil,linseed and turps but in my case water as I use water soluble oils. You can buy it in either clear, black or white. It's used to put on the canvas before painting, a light coat which gives a slippy feel to the canvas( Bob Ross) a teqnique used for alla prima painting, I think I was too liberal in my aplication making the paint slide around a bit too much. Worth giving it a try.
