This is super quirky and beautifully composed. Love the bird (is it a real one?) and all the other interesting artifacts. I like the way you have moved the perspective to give the objects a slant as it works to make the painting different and interesting. By the way, what is a 'Tuis'?

thank you Thea so very kind of you to say. so glad you like my composition and quirky shapes. i don't set-up a still life but i do have the barometer and the olive oil jug and of course the wine bottle, the rest are from my imagination. i will amend my wee story to be more reader friendly - a tui is a native bird of New Zealand - they are very chatty and make lots of warbling sounds, they often look black but in the sun their feathers are super-irridescent blue, purple, green with brown feathers on their back overlaid with a cloak of white feathers and a lovely tuft of white feathers under their chins. thanks again.

Super-thrilled with this. I've been crazy busy working on my Tui's (native bird of New Zealand) so i could make sure i could paint them in a still-life the way I want them to be - woohoo!! You can see my Great-Grandfather's ship's barometer in the top right corner, I get a bit misty about these old family treasures, a little bit lame I know, I guess it's because there's no-one around to tell the silly stories - it's up to me now! www.amandabrett.net
