Alita Porter

Biography

I live and work in rural Aberdeenshire. I cannot remember a time when I didn't paint, draw and create. All my working life I have made my living from my creativity, in one form or another. A lot of my work is comprised of highly textured abstract paintings, using acrylic on canvas. I have recently got into hand printing and I also enjoy using polymer clay to create images and sculptures. From time to time I make jewellery, using many materials, both new and recycled. Add to that knitted and crocheted items, hand dyed wool, well you get the idea, I can’t resist playing about with stuff and making things! I am inspired primarily by colour, closely followed by texture. I am fascinated by the patterns that nature presents to us and these motifs occur frequently in my work. I also just love to play with paint, it is irresistible.
