Thank you for your wonderful comments everyone. I was keeping quiet about the bread roll Val :( ..and I hope this is less 'challenging' Angi :) PS it was eaten after. Before I started I persuaded myself that half a pint would give a better compositional balance ;)

Very Dutch school look about this painting, Alan - a meal set in a dark and cosy room. I like the texture of the paper you have used as it adds a certain something to all the elements of the painting. Great stuff.

Thanks once again for your wonderful comments. The texture of the paper can be a blessing and a curse Thea. Sometimes I use it, other times I have to fight it :)

Great painting! I nearly had a Ploughmans today too! Just decided to omit the Branston at last minute and have coleslaw instead! Great painting. I like still lifes. (or is it still lives?) Yours is so realistic. jx
