Delightful watercolour Alan, great palette, lovely bright little cottages

I agree with Ross. Delightful was the word that came to mind the moment I saw this painting. I'm tempted to have another go!

Great little painting like the reddish brown on the hills in the foreground.

Yet another super watercolour Alan, has a feeling of a JFW style, which is no bad thing.

Wonderful pastoral scene, painted with your usual aplomb and competence.

thanks guys .such nice comments and from good artists, I mean that ,and it means so much. its easy to criticise and disect a painting to search for that tiny fault. a fault that the artists could have done when paining to avoid his stress,, shall we say.. so I do hope people will encourage everyone who pops one on the gallery.because it hurts them and me..when I see it .often is people who dont have a go at a painting themselves who are most critical 'they may have had abad hair day I don t know.. .but If I do it.. shoot me will you. sorry for my rant of the day .love you all Alan

Another great painting. You make it look simple but to get the right colours and compositional balance is very hard indeed. I agree with you regarding people who over criticize, for me we are all on a wonderful voyage of self discovery and an appreciation of art. To get to the good stuff you often have to wade through the bad stuff (people who criticize at this point are either jealous or don't understand what we are about). The good stuff for me is an expression of one's soul - certain little types of brush marks you like, certain little colour combinations you like etc It's like finding your voice - so there is no right or wrong - only what is right for you - what you like and what you love to do. I'm rambling but I hope you know what I mean.

A real humdinger Alan! I managed to get my copy of LP with your article in it. Excellent stuff Alan! Would be even better if it was just one of a series of articles ! Hint, hint !

Like this one very much Alan!

Is this more Fletcher Watson style.. Had the privilege of visiting his studio in September. Fascinating. Has been kept exactly as it was when he did his last painting before he died. If you ever visit wind rush it is a jus for pure watercolour lovers.

Marvellous painting Alan, good composition and lovely simple brush work
