Alan, pleased to see another up. I still struggle with amount of water in both mix and brush, so that I get things down in one go in a consistent way across the painting. A couple of days ago, I bought myself a small bit of plywood (12" x 9") with the intention of doing a few half hour paintings (to force myself to stay loose) inspired by your section here. So thanks for posting - very useful to me.

Thanks Norman ,it is so easy to wander away from the overall tone isnt it Norman ?,on Monday we were doing a scene and my friend was folowing me ,when he decided to change the colour in his trees on the right ,,I said" now youve done it,you have gone off the tonal value of the whole painting " later he changed colors to stay with the rest of the painting ,,but the rulles can be broken and ,thats not to say you cant vere away from the tone with a little bit of warmth .,and then intoduce it along another stretch to ballance things up again. .but its all good fun and practice ,and thats the best part ,, making mistakes and then getting it right ,,
