Hi there, I painted this today and would appreciate any feedback as this is only the third landscape I have ever attempted. I wouldn’t normally use a round canvas but it was pouring with rain today and it was all I had to hand. It’s 6 inches across. I don’t think I am a natural landscape artist but I enjoyed giving it a go. It’s in acrylics. It looks better from a distance, hence the photo format, Thanks in advance.
I like it, with the autumn colours and light shining through those trees. Are you going to put it on the Gallery where you would get more feedback? Round canvases do seem to be in vogue at present, I've noticed quite a lot of paintings done on rounds.
Hi Sandra, thank you for your comments. I've just put it on the gallery but i'm not sure people like to critique things on there like they might in this thread? I'm not a huge fan of round canvases as I struggle to work out how to compose things. But seeing as this was all a bit of an experiment I thought i'd just use what i had to hand :D. Thanks again, Lucy
So far as I can see it on here - we're getting older (67 today!) we have to peer - I like it. I don't mind commenting adversely on the Gallery, by the way! Though much prefer to encourage. I've never used a circular canvas because so many are very badly made, but then - some aren't. And in any case a good painting is a good painting whatever you execute it on, so (I haven't looked at the Gallery today) I hope you'll post it on the Gallery.
Happy birthday Robert - hope you're having an enjoyable day what ever you are up to! And thank you, (and sorry about it being a bit small on the screen, it just loses the overall image and becomes brushstrokes only if it's too close up. If nothing else it's a change from animals, and it's good to mix it up a bit i reckon.
Happy birthday buddy
Hi, I am 72 and have just picked up a brush. This is my first painting and I would welcome so feedback, good or bad.
Mike, welcome. Your painting is lovely, well done! You can post your paintings in the gallery where more people can view them.
If this is your first painting, you should certainly be doing more - that's your retirement taken care of, then! More strength to your paintbrushes.
The round canvas works well, it helps to draw your eye in. I love your use of colour, no shyness to go bold. Nice perspective
