I did this painting in oil of a Lobelia plant. The plant has blue flowers so I decided to do it in half abstract style with its lovely blue colors. Kept the background calm.  Wonder if it is working. Would like suggestions.

Thanks Sandra. Good to know that you too feel the blue is working fine. After painting a subject one should feel contented.

I think the lobelia is beautifully painted.  Not sure what you meant by ‘half abstract’.  I don’t do abstract so I’m not much use to you. If the lobelia is half abstract, that works perfectly.  
With Sarah, Phil, Ellen, Rose the dentist, and the granddaughter whose name I forget.
