Hi all, Hoping for some critiques on this painting. I have been trying to position nudes into more abstracted backgrounds. Any advice/ critiques or observations regarding any aspects of this are sought.
Frankly, I wouldn't presume to critique it - it's a very striking image, and I like the abstract background. There's just one place on the underside of the right leg, where it gets a little lost against the background flesh tone, where, given the linear treatment given to the rest of the figure, I have a sense of a line being missing. But other than that, it's well-drawn, well-painted, and interesting to look at.
I like the idea that the hands appear to be supporting the body on a part of the background. It's a striking image and deserves to be seen.
Concept good, colour good, anatomy and drawing need a bit more study and work - and I know they're difficult; I've got to paint a dog for someone, and even a dog's anatomy is difficult.... painting a hairy paw is bad enough, then you go on to the human hand or foot and retreat gratefully back to the paw.... I think I'd like the painting anyway, anatomical accuracy to one side.
