This painting was inspired by a friend of.mine leaning against a wall in my house wearing a striking blue sweater. I'm turning it into a symbolic painting...her hopes and loves fly out the window as she stands somewhat wistfully.
I need to work on her hand I know and I think I'll make a dreadful mess of this, but I've got to try.
Comments and advice always welcomed
This will be acrylics

Interesting project and composition...
I would be concerned about getting the proportions right particularly of hands and feet. Any thoughts on colour scheme?
How will you illustrate her hopes and dreams disappearing out of the window? Who is the second version of her? Is this her potential (for the best or the worst?) I could ask lots of questions, about lighting and symbolism...what objects can give clues to whatever themes you want to grasp, what feeling you want it to have. I guess I will just have to keep an eye on the thread.

Lovely idea, DavidG. The colour of her jumper is ideal, blue has a wonderful implication when it comes to symbolism, have a look in the dictionary before you start.
If this work is for the person you are referring to, do you know what her hopes and dreams are? Dayey has made some good points to consider - lighting sets a mood, items give a visual perspective of her thoughts to the viewer A difficult task as not everyone understands this kind of thing.
I'd also look up the symbolic meaning for flowers. I too will be interested in the outcome of this work.
Is 'woman against the wall' the title? If you are going to give the work a title be aware of its implication and does it say something to add to the subject.
:) women talking! ... you men set the bar very high.

I've been watching with interest. You began by saying it would be a symbolic painting. So you need to have a clear idea of what you mean by that. It's interesting for us and no doubt you'll get many suggestions, but it's stating the obvious to say you have to go your own way with this. Paintings like this are difficult, which, for me, makes them much more interesting than a study of a woman leaning against a wall. I enjoy looking at symbolist paintings, and don't always 'get' what they are about, but the mere fact that they make you think, places them a cut above straightforward studies. So the only advice I have to offer is decide what the painting is about and don't deviate from that...just go for it.
