Thank you everyone. I am not keen on overworking a watercolour, nor in attempting to 'correct' or improve things, unless it is very minor or would not be detrimental.... I prefer to try to keep the colours fresh and transparent where I can, so I try to minimise the amount of pigment on there or the number of layers. I have found in the past if I just keep adding paint in the hope of improving something, it loses the fresh quality. I remember hearing a comment years ago that has stuck with me - "...it's called WATERcolour for a reason..." - I have to smile when I think of that comment, as it reminds me that some of its appeal to me is the freshness, fluidity, and a certain amount of unpredictability that can result in a surprising 'wow, thats worked out neat' kind of feeling I get. It is another version. Even though my first post was wip, I wanted to alter a few things with the penwork before more paint treatment, including the perspective, groundcover, and more tree foliage, so these were aspects that were not going to be possible as 'additions'. I like the freshness of my first wip and was in general pleased with it, and have kept this as a reference for myself. It is, as Robert says, useful to have as reminders of where our skills developed from. I think it also serves as a reminder to me that I want to keep my paintings fresh and 'clean'.  Thanks, again, for everyone's encouraging words.
