Spent two hours at the allotment - oh, those greens. Seat was rotten and gave way, fortunately didn't land on the ground. Aim was to "make sense" of the view - I'll continue this at home, work on the tones and vary the colours. Also took a photo but I wasn't sensible enough to do it first, so the light is very different. Why make things easy?😂
Another half hour, but it's too precise! Tomorrow.....
It's looking good Marjorie, it's a real tester for the greens!
Like this latest version, do hope you don't take anything out.
Complex subject, bravely tackled! You like quite pastel colours, I'm a bit more crude and obvious! So while you haven't asked for a crit, and therefore I won't lumber you with one, I think you were right about the preponderance of greens - which frighten most landscape painters - and your introduction of the magenta touches in the foreground (globe artichokes?) has helped a lot.
Great subject, Marjorie, and one to look at slowly. The foreground introductions have helped to create more depth and have given the colour a lift. The greens don't dominate btw, to the extent that they steal the show, so I wouldn't be too concerned; in fact, they seem appropriate, given the nature of the subject. I don't know if the intro of some wildlife would help, but all the allotments I've looked at, over the years, are always bursting with birds when the owner is away. You can't be far off now and it's looking very good to me. Bri
And it looks great Marjorie.
