It certainly isn't "crap" , really enjoying seeing how you progess this painting. I shall be interested now to see what you do with the foreground. I do love how you're doing the building and the soft subtle colours in the road.
This is coming along wonderfully. Just one comment- the tree limb the same level as the chimney ridge, on the right, that drew my eye. As the shadows fall on the same position at first I thought it was an extension of the chimney, but this maybe an illusion on my eye because of the size of the painting on the screen. If your not happy with the foreground darken it, this will help bring a depth into the work and also enhance that gorgeous house. It's a lovely sunny scene, leave it till after the hols' and come back to it with fresh eyes.
Foreground resolved! Top right is better now although I must admit I didn't notice that tree branch. Lovely soft palette. You must be very happy with it now.
Well, if it's not finished, it's nearly there .... perhaps entirely there. You've kept it soft and subtle, without making everything fuzzy and undefined; you haven't gone mad with spots of colour, thus entirely avoiding any choccy box tendency, not that I think that was really a danger in the first place. It's a little gem, in short. Well done.
