A gorgeous plant. I've just had a look at some images online. If you're having problems with the lighting take a few photos and use them as a reference. I often do this as the light changes so quickly.
I've just seen a lovely painting in your gallery 'who am I' a delightful image and one to ponder.

Might do rays, coming in from the upper left.

The timing is everything. Early morning light can produce bright crisp shadows, evening light soft and mellow. This conversation has got me thinking, I've taken a few pictures of the moon by day and night, maybe a few moon-lit plants are now on my agenda.
The inclusion of rays, I'm sure, will give a lovely dramatic edge to your work. Happy Painting, Caroline.

These flowers are called, an Emperor's Staff, also known as ,the Flower of Redemption, and the Red Torch Ginger flower. I put a blue morpho butterfly in as that is what they attract and it needed something more. There was very little light coming through, so I just left it as I saw it. I think I will paint all the other ginger family flowers as they are so beautiful.

This will be my next one. This baby sloth fell out of the tree and lost her mum. She is in the rescue centre now, doing well. I love painting all the animals here.
