Years ago, when the Walking Dead show first started in Marietta GA.. Both me and my son were very excited for it... That is where I lived at the time...  I loved the show especially the first few seasons... I thought I might like to try and create a new character for it.. Penny..  Only in my mind of course.. She would be a simple farm girl who I pictured in the forest alone and frightened, just trying to get to a safe place... My son challenged me to draw her for him so I did... This was just a simple graphite pencil and charcoal portrait I did in about an hour.. I found it the other day and thought I would Like to upgrade it with digital  work in Krita...  This series of stages I'm going to post involved about 25 different layers over a period of three days...
Early on, I just wanted to add some more texture and refine some features of the face and background... I intend to add a lot of flowers and a little color, and she will no longer look frightened... just a beautiful girl portrait...
Here just continuing to refine and blend.. Krita has great tools for this.. also some flower and leaf stamp brushes that allow you to create intricate backgrounds... Introducing  a little color for reference.. I plan to use whites, pinks, and soft pastel oranges for skin tone... Flowers are taking shape...
Here I am almost finished...  Lots more color to add, and I introduced leaf texture into her hat and dress to tie everything together... Like she is an actual spirit of the forest or created by it... Lots more blending and shadow added to give more depth to the face...
Ok, "Penny" Is finished after three days of work....  Added a lot more color and flowers... more detail work... Her expression now is more one of wonder than fear... I used Corel Paintshop Pro to enhance Vibrancy of Color and Saturation.. as well as, Brightness and Contrast and also Back lighting... I wanted her to look as if she could step out of the canvas.... One of my best Lady Portraits I think.... I will offer this for sale soon on Fine Art America... I hope you like it... I am very happy with it..
I love your final picture Eric and it was really interesting to read and see how you achieved your final result. I’ve dabbled with some digital art but find it really difficult. Well done.
